  • What is Total Health?

Total Health is Kellogg’s framework for a positive and supportive environment that inspires our employees to be their best - physically, financially, emotionally and socially. Having good health in each of these areas leads to personal growth and engagement both at work and at home.

The goal of Total Health is to support a multi-generational and diverse workforce, and to help employees achieve short- and long-term health goals.

Total Health continues to be introduced to Kellogg employees around the world.

We all have different needs and circumstances when it comes to achieving and maintaining good Total Health for ourselves and our families.

  • Is Kellogg proposing cutting wages and benefits to U.S. RTEC employees?

We are not proposing cutting wages or benefits. Kellogg provides compensation and benefits for our U.S. RTEC employees that are among the industry’s best. Our offer includes increases to pay and benefits for our employees, while helping us meet the challenges of the changing cereal business.

For reference, the average 2020 earnings for all RTEC employees was $120,000. Our proposals demonstrate our continued investments in our employees and help ensure the sustainability of our business and our plants going forward.

  • What has been proposed about COLA?

The company has proposed a one-time COLA fold of $1.80 into wages. In addition to the COLA fold, we have proposed wage increases for all employees. Depending on when they were hired, some employees would see a 9% wage increase over the contract term. Others would see a 6-year wage progression to achieve the wage rate of about $35.00/ hour.

  • What has been proposed about FMLA?

The company is proposing employees use two weeks of vacation concurrently with intermittent FMLA leave. This would help reduce last-minute absenteeism which results in overtime for other employees. These are challenges to work-life balance for our employees and to keeping our production running efficiently.

  • The Master Contract includes a two-tier structure where employees are hired as “transitional” employees, and graduate to the top tier. What is the company proposing about the two-tiered structure?

We are proposing a new wage progression for employees and removing the two-tiered hiring structure (which places new hires into the ‘transitional’ designation and pay structure). Over the proposed 6-year wage progression, these employees would achieve a wage rate of about $35.00/hour.

When we established the two-tier system, we envisioned more movement into the top tier. That has not been the case. In practice, the two-tier system does not benefit employees.

Our proposals not only maintain these industry-leading pay and benefits, but offer significant increases in wages, benefits and retirement.

  • What has the company proposed about removing the Union logo from cereal boxes?

We have proposed removing the Union logo from our packaging because we are seeking more agility in how we produce and use packaging across our network.
